The New Year of 2014 is here!! I know many are setting their New Year's resolutions and what not. I have never really been a huge fan of setting them. I don’t feel I need another year to motivate me to do something and especially for the Kingdom of God. I am constantly setting and pursuing goals to be attained.
My question for you is what scripture in the Word of God helps you to achieve greater things for his Kingdom? There is one scripture that is near and dear to my heart. I believe if all Christians truly understood and utilized this scripture, their lives could excel to heights they have never seen before.
"For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him." Philippians 2:13 (NLT)
For all Christians that have struggled with: motivation; procrastination; sin; lack of desire; no vision; or some other negative effect in serving God, this is your scripture. God said that he WILL GIVE you the desire and power to do what pleases him! We are without excuse! God is so awesome, that he gives us everything we need to serve him!
I found this scripture some years ago when I was struggling with a sin issue in my life. No matter how hard I tried, “I” couldn’t break it. See, the key word, “I.” God is a jealous god, he doesn’t want any “I’s” in our lives. It is about “HIM” and “HIM” only. In my time of pressing in for answers, this scripture came to my life. I saw it for what it was really saying to me. God doesn’t want me delivering myself from sin, HE does it for me. Sure, I have my role to fulfill, but he gives me the desire and power to be free.
Once I grabbed hold of the truth of this scripture, sin I was struggling with lifted off of me and has never come back in my life. I had an overwhelming desire and power to break free, but it is God that gets all the glory! From that day forward, I began to see the power of this scripture in my life. I began to apply it to many areas of my life. Suddenly, I am seeing myself overcoming obstacles and achieving levels of success in my personal walk with the Lord. He GIVES US THE POWER AND DESIRE! WOW!
Friends, I encourage you to run with this scripture in your life. Just try it in one area of your life. Pray a prayer unto the Lord; cry out to him for the desire and power to do something that pleases him. Watch him come through for you. Hand in hand Abba Father will walk you through life’s challenges giving you the strength and courage to overcome.
You are a champion in his eyes; it’s time for you to see it for yourself!
